Why is peepal known as Chalpatra?
The leaf has a tail-like structure known as a “Drip Tip”. Through the drift tip the rain water just falls down therefore the peepal leaves are never wet. The leaves therefore never get attacked by fungi because the reticulate venation maintains a natural super hydrophobic surface. The rare and extraordinary petiole design of leaves are very thin which has a natural sensor . The petiole has a natural aerodynamic sensor which converts normal thermal energy into movement therefore without wind it is continuously moving. Because of its unique character it is known as Chalpatra.
RELIGIOUS USES OF PEEPAL TREES:-
1 . The tree is said to be the union of Tridev that is Brahma , Vishnu and Shiva so, it is the holiest and pure tree.
2 . It is believed that those who plant the peepal tree , their generation never ends. Planting the new tree brings long life, health , wealth , happiness and success.
3 . The deceased get released from pain and suffering and become free to attain moksha.
4 . When someone dies, a clay pot filled with water is tied on the peepal tree. Because it is assumed that the soul of a deceased person will not become thirsty in their path and could travel to the next birth.
5 . Today it is considered a superstition but in old age it was valuable. Because if a superstition can save the lives of trees , birds , animals , human beings and the environment then “superstition is good” .
6 . Because of its social , religious , Ayurvedic values from every side it is worshipped and respected in the whole world.
