AN IMAGE OF CATARACT AND GLAUCOMA

Cataract is the condition of the eyes in which the natural lens becomes cloudy, blurred, foggy or Opaque. Aging causes protein clumping in the lens causing cataract. It looks like a white pearl in the eye that is named like motiabind in hindi. It can be PEADIATRIC CATARACT ( congenital) or by birth a baby has cataract. It can be a TRAUMATIC CATARACT that happens by injury to our eyes. The proteins in our eye lens start to break down around the age of 40 but the symptoms appear at the age of 60s or later.

 TREATMENT-

Treatment is surgery. In this process the Ophthalmologist removes the foggy lens and replaces it with an intraocular lens which is an artificial and permanent lens fix in our eyes. These lenses are made up of silicone and acrylic because they are biocompatible and designed to be well tolerated for eyes . They look like plastics. But they are not made up of  plastics. Because both are polymers. These are suitable for cataract surgery.
