SHILAJIT

Shilajit formed after the intense heat of sunlight falls on the surface of the mountains, especially in the summer season. It is a lac (laah/ lakh) like structure. It is also called the “gum of stone” . The name of the stone is known as Shilajatu.

This is juice of six minerals such as gold, iron etc. 

WHERE SHEELAJIT IS FOUND ?

 It is abundantly found in the regions of Tibbet, Bhutan, Nepal, Haridwar, Dwarahat ( Uttarakhand ), Gilgit etc.

Types of Sheelajit and its impurities 

The Sheelajit is found in  impure form. It can be used after purification. 

SIX TYPES OF SHILAJIT ARE FOUND :-

1 . With gold 

2 . With copper

3 . With Iron 

4 . With silver

5 . With Tin ( bang) / example bang bhasm

6 . With lead

THESE ORIGINATED FROM THEIR MINERAL STONES:-

In old times these 6 types of Shilajit were found but today there are only four. Example – Gold, silver, copper and Iron.  All of the above, today only Iron Shilajit is found abundantly. It smells like urine of cows. 

PROHIBITED-

1 . Many adulterated Sheelajit are prepared.  By cooking in  the urine of cows, artificial or fake Shilajit are manufactured. 

2 . Shilajit can be used only after its purification because of the heavy metals and impurities present in it in raw form. 

3 . Directly obtained Shilajit from the stone should not be consumed because of these  heavy metals and impurities can damage our organs.

4 . The pregnant ladies and breast feeding should be avoided.

CHARACTERS-

1 . Bitter

2 . Neither more cold and nor hot ( moderate nature)

3 . Heavy in digestion 

4 . Excision 

5 . Helps in  Increases sperms count and fight from infertility etc

6 . Both men and women can eat

HOW TO DISTINGUISH/ IDENTIFY BEST QUALITY:-

1 . According to Iron Shilajit is best.

2 . black in colour 

3 .Looks like guggul/ gum/ resins 

4 . Smells like cows urine

5 . Smooth and shiny structure 

6 . Soft

7 .  Gentle/ delicate( sweet) taste

8 . Free from acidic and bitter taste

HOW TO REMOVE IMPURITIES FROM THE SHILAJIT?

1 . It should be mixed in the water and kept in the iron utensils. 

The water should be eighth times of the Shilajit. 

Example – 1 gram of Shilajit should be mixed in 8 grams of water. In last we will obtain ⅛ gram of Qwath.

2 . After sometime the dusts or impurities will settle at the bottom of the iron utensil

3 . Gently transfer the water into another iron utensil so the impurities are left behind in the first  iron utensil.

4 . The water either should be kept in the sun  or can be put on a burner until it dries. 

5 . Finally it will take the form of Qwath ( concentrated form of liquid/ kadha)

6 . The Qwath or concentrated liquid can be used for different types of diseases and given to the patients.

HOW TO EAT/ CONSUME/ USE SHILAJIT?

1 . According to Ayurveda, it is consumed as the size of a gram ( chana).

2 . It can be taken with the Triphala powder

3 . It can be taken with leaves of pointed gourd ( parval k patte)

4 . It can also be taken with the mulethi.

These are taken alternatively .

 Three days with Triphala, three days with leaves of pointed gourd, three days with mulethi.

It is also said that a person does not become ill and diseased.

(But for better results all the practices should be done under the supervision of a well professoned Ayurvedic doctor.)

RESTRICTIONS OF FOODS WHILE USING SHILAJIT-

1 . Horseradish (Kulthi daal)

2 . Black nightshade ( makoy)

3 . Meat of pigeon 

These should be avoided even after a few days of consumption of Shilajit.

The Shilajit has the capability to cure any type of curable diseases.

 HOW TO CONSUME SHILAJIT?

1 . It can be taken with water, milk, honey and ghee.  It can be eaten with mixing one ingredient, two ingredients, three ingredients or even with all ingredients in the morning.

 2 . Shilajit + honey+ ghee, Loha bhasm + Harad + Swarna makshi bhasm + Baibadang+  parad Rassindura  = equal quantities.

According to Ayurveda, it is said that if a person is weak, can become strong and powerful within 15 days of regular use of this churna .

DOSES-

In the Ayurvedic book Charak samhita , charak mentioned a minimum 1 karsha (12 grams) and maximum 1 pal (48 grams). In that time people were able to digest this much of Shilajit but the present human body is not that strong and nor can digest . It can be taken for one week, two weeks and last for seven weeks according to the needs for treatment.

12 . Helps in recovery of Loss of sperms especially after long practicing masterbation 

13 . Can be taken in Tuberculosis as well as in HIV diseases.( On the advice of doctors)
